PTO Committees
The PTO is organized by having several volunteers focus on specific committees including the following areas. Some annual events have sub-committees which provides flexibility for volunteers throughout the year. Below are a few examples:
Apparel Sale
Organize McKinley apparel sale in the fall/ spring. Communicate and coordinate sale, and distribute items to classes when apparel arrives.
Book Fair
Help us to organize our annual book fair. Role includes help with set up, sales, and break down of the event. Volunteers needed in both morning, afternoon, and evening time slots.
Coat Drive
Coordinate collection of gently-used coats, hats, scarves, and gloves for distribution to needy families in the area.
Clothing Drive
Help solicit donation of used clothes, toys, etc. to raise money for McK. Volunteers are needed to help load the donated bags onto the truck. Time commitment: 30 minutes, once in October and once in April.
Family Science Night
Volunteer to help at our Family Science Night. Volunteer opportunities include set up, helping at a station, clean up, etc. Planning for this event begins early in the school year.
General Fundraising
Want to lend a hand to help us distribute some of our sale items? This could be a good role for you!
KAPERS
Help to organize our McKinley school production in the spring.
KAPERS involves 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade students and their parents interested in participating in the show production. Our current directors write and produce the show, as well as coordinate rehearsals with the students during the school day and with parents one night a week. We are looking for the following:
1- Parents who can help with the kids rehearsals (during lunch time hour)
2- Parents who are Tech savvy with lighting and sound system
3 - Parents who can help with wrangling students on the nights of the performance
McKinley Adult Social Fundraiser
Help in planning and executing the annual fundraising Social usually held in February. This is a fun night out for the parents while helping raise money for the school. Planning begins by November.
